Create iPhone Ringtones from your iTunes Library

iTunes

iTunes

My friend sent me these directions on how to create ringtones for your iPhone right from your iTunes library.  This will only work with songs you ripped to iTunes, or the 256kps DRM free downloads.  If you have DRM songs you can burn them to a CD, and then re-import them into iTunes.

1. In iTunes, right-click the song you want, go to ‘Get Info’ and change the start and end points so it’s 30 seconds in length.

2. Verify that your Encoder in Import Using is set to AAC.  You can set the quality to any setting you chose.  I prefer the 256 kbps setting.

3. Right-click the song again, ‘convert selection to AAC’.

4. Find this new file or drag it from iTunes to your desktop.

5. Rename the file extension from .m4a to .m4r.

6. Import it back into iTunes and it will appear as a ringtone. Tada!

Now the song will be placed in your ringtones folder.  You can delete the .m4a converted track from iTunes now, so that you don’t have the thirty second track on your album.

Sad Song Long

promo_getamac_20080513Apple has released an extended “Sad Song” commercial entitled “Sad Song Long”. In this version of the commercial PC (John Hodgman) sings more of the Vista Blues. I think this is the best commercial yet. I especially enjoyed the ending. I won’t spoil it, but it’s a classic Windows fix for any of their Os’s. So check out the ad at Apple’s Get a Mac page, and enjoy.

iPhone Release Date CONFIRMED!!!

wwdc08According to the ars technica article I just read; they state that the 3G iPhone has been confirmed for a release date of June 9th at WWDC. This is supposed to happen right after the announcement. Here’s the clincher though. They go on to site the Gizmodo article that I sited in my post earlier this morning. So, at this point I would take this announcement with a grain of salt. I will update my blog as soon as I hear any other news on the release date.

Latest 3G iPhone Rumor

prod-iphoneAs WWDC approaches the iPhone rumor mill will run a muck. So far we have heard that the new iPhone will be 3G, it will have GPS, oh and it will also drive your car for you. I am kidding about the last statement, but I would not be surprised if that was a rumor as well. This morning I read a Gizmodo article stating a “source very close to the 3G iPhone launch”, said that the iPhone will be announced on June 9th at WWDC. And, that it will be available “worldwide” right after the launch. The prominent rumor is that it will be announced at WWDC, but as far a launch time it has been varying by rumor.

The other rumor which I hope is true, is the subsidization of the iPhone by the carrier. I had posted this on my blog about three weeks ago. According to the Fortune Blog AT&T would subsidize the iPhone by $200.00 when you sign a two year contract. The Gizmodo article also states that the iPhone will not be sold at a fixed price point. As to what exactly this means the article was fairly vague. I guess what they are probably taking about is carrier subsidization. Or, Apple might be releasing more than one iPhone model. This to is another rumor cycling through the rumor mill.

Well until June 9th, all we can do is hope that the rumors are true. If they are this is going to be a great iPhone. Even if some of the rumors are not true, I still think the iPhone will do very well.

index_watchads20080327Just this morning I posted that Apple had two new commercials.  Well, Apple has added an additional commercial titled “Sad Song”.  PC is a Country Singer with a Hound Dog.  This is yet another great ad.  I would like Apple to make a Hi, I’m a Zune, and Hi, I’m an iPod commercials.  So, Apple if you’re listening this would make a great commercial.  To see the new ad click here.

New Get a Mac Ads

index_watchads20080327Apple has just released two new Get a Mac Ads. The first one in entitled “Pep Rally”, and the second one is titled “Group”. Both of these ads are great. Apple’s ad agency just keep pumping out excellent commercials. I think Apple should place these ads in iTunes as a free download, or even package them as a set for downloading. Watch, now that I posted this on my blog, in a month you will see the ads in iTunes. Well her is a link to the ads click here, and enjoy.
